City went into Sunday’s FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture at Sixways against The Mikes knowing they would be in for a tough game against the division’s pacesetters but also relishing the opportunity to stretch their five-game unbeaten record in all competitions.

It was the visitors who had the first effort of the game, but Jodie Whiteman dived to the floor to make the save.

A few minutes later, it was City who took the lead with a goal from distance by midfielder Nyah Edwards, which flew into the top corner.

Shortly after, Maia Clark won the ball from deep and saw the keeper off her line, the keeper managed to tip the ball behind for a corner and from the resulting corner, Edwards close range header hit the woodwork.

In the 18th minute, Boldmere equalised after City cleared a corner, and the ball fell to a Boldmere player, who fired it past a crowded penalty box into the bottom corner.

Moments later, Nyah Edwards had a shot from inside the box, but the Miles’ keeper made the save.

A few minutes later, Boldmere retook the lead with a shot from distance that left Whiteman with no chance.

The Mikes added a third at the end of the half to take control of the game.

A couple of minutes after the restart, Boldmere added their fourth as a shot was cannoned past Whiteman into the net.

The chances in the game for either side were limited following the visitors' fourth of the afternoon, and it wasn’t until the 89th minute that Jenn Higgs had an effort from the edge of the box, but her shot went just wide of the post.

In stoppage time, Whiteman made a fantastic save after the Boldmere attacker got behind the defence, but Whiteman gathered the ball and stopped the effort.
