Last time out

City welcomed top of the table Boldmere St Michaels to Sixways in what was always going to be a tough fixture against the division’s pace setters.

A Nyah Edwards strike gave City a deserved lead, but then the visitors stepped it up and came away with the three points following a 4-1 victory.

Leafield, meanwhile, travelled up to Yorkshire to take on Barnsley in a spectacular game that saw Leafield come away 5-3 winners.

Despite City’s defeat last time out, they remain in 6th position in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands table and sit just three points behind Barnsley and Sheffield, who sit in 5th and 4th place respectively.

Sunday’s opponents, Leafield, currently sit just 7 points above City in 3rd place on 27 points after registering 9 wins and losing just 3.

Previous meetings

The two sides met in the reverse fixture at Sixways back in August in a close encounter, in which City were desperately unlucky not to come away with anything. An 18th-minute strike from Gemma Fraser was enough to see Leafield earn the three points.

The last time the two sides met was in November, in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Second Round Proper at the Castle Vale Stadium, where it was another close affair.

Maia Clark gave City the lead in the 8th minute, after holding up a superb Jodie Whiteman pass and showed great strength and power to shrug off the defenders and bury a brilliant strike past the goalkeeper.

Leafield pushed and got back into the tie just after the hour mark, thanks to Chloe Shirley’s effort that forced the tie into extra time, where the scores remained level to ensure the tie ended in a lottery of a penalty shootout, which City unfortunately were beaten 4-3 to go out of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
