It was Worcestershire FA Sunday Women’s Cup action for City on Sunday lunchtime as they looked to claim their second County Cup final in three seasons, as they squared off at the Worcestershire FA, Claines Lane, against tier five outfit, Redditch Borough.

City saw off Bromsgrove Sporting and Kidderminster Harriers on route to the final; meanwhile, Sunday’s opponents beat Droitwich Spa and Worcester Lionesses.

A few minutes in the game has its first opportunity as Charlotte Poole whipped in across that fell behind Maia Clark, who gathered the ball and hit a shot that landed on top of the goal.

Five minutes later It was the Poole and Clark combo again this time Clark gets her head on a Poole cross, but her effort was held by the keeper.

On the 15th minute mark City were awarded a free kick and Evie Billingsley struck an effort that crashed off the inside of the bar.

Moments later, Billingsley had another effort after she turned on the edge of the box and tried to find the bottom left corner, however the shot didn’t have the power and the keeper comfortably held onto the ball.

Just before the 30th minute, Borough had their first attempt of the game, however the direct free kick went wide of the post.

Immediately after, City went down the other end and Jess Fassnidge collected the ball at the edge of the box, however her effort just flashes wide of the right hand crossbar.

City were awarded a penalty after Billingsley was brought down in the area and the skipper smashed the penalty home.

Shortly after, Nyah Edwards hit from the edge of the box, but her effort was tipped over the bar.

City were awarded another penalty three minutes later, which Edwards riffled into the top right hand corner to ensure Worcester went into the break in complete command.

It was Borough who had the first opportunity of the second half but the shot from the edge of the box went over the bar.

Minutes later, Billingsley drove up the pitch and finds the defenders backing off, she then decides to have an effort that the keeper has to stretch for to stop City adding a third.

Five minutes after the hour there was a melee in the box, and it bounced and bobbled everywhere, but City couldn’t find the finish.

Ten minutes from time Billingsley whipped un a a fantastic corner, Fassnidge got her head on the ball, but lacked the direction to trouble the goalkeeper.

Game changer Jess Bate flew down the right wing and bursted into the box and played the ball back to Clark whose shot was saved.

Borough got back into three minutes from time after an outrageous volley flew past Whiteman to set up a nervy finish.

The nervy finished lasted just two minutes after Clark squared the ball across the box for game changer Kaye Haggett to tap home and ensure City were crowned Worcestershire FA County Cup champions for the second time in three seasons.

Next up for City is the final game of the 2025/2026 FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands season as they make the trip to Lincoln United on Sunday, 26th April, with a usual kick-off time of 14:00pm.

 WCWFC U18S

City’s U18S finished their 2025/2026 league campaign on Saturday, as they welcomed Boldmere St Michaels to Little Perdiswell as they looked to build on their fantastic 4-1 win over Stourbridge last time out, thanks to an owl goal, a brace from Rosie R and a strike from Ava.

City found themselves 2-0 down after just eight minutes, but Rosie R struck on the 20th minute mark to halve the deficit. The visitors restored their two-goal advantage six minutes later; however, City’s Rosie R was in inspired form as she bagged her brace a minute later and then scored her hat-trick and completed the Worcester comeback a few minutes later.

Rosie R wasn’t done there as she scored her and City’s fourth ten minutes from the break to ensure City went into the break with a 4-3 lead. That’s how the game stayed, as City signed off their 2025/2026 league campaign with the three points and ensured they finished the Central Warwickshire Girls Football League Premier Division table.
