Worcester City Women FC in the Community Celebrates First Anniversary
Kynd Folk, Worcester very ‘Kyndly’ hosted the celebration of the first anniversary of WCWFC In The Community, the club’s dedicated arm for delivering inclusive football programmes and empowering opportunities both on and off the pitch.
Over the past 12 months, WCWFC In The Community has launched a range of initiatives designed to bring people together, grow the game, and inspire the next generation of players and leaders. Highlights include:
Kick & Mix – A fun and inclusive mixed football session every Friday night at Perdiswell Sports Centre, open to all abilities and ages, providing a social and accessible way to enjoy the game.
Kick & Connect – A Saturday morning session designed specifically for females, offering a safe and welcoming environment to connect through football, fitness, and friendship.
School Initiatives – Working directly with local schools to inspire children, promote participation in sport, and highlight the positive impact of football in education.
Sister Club Programme – Supporting local grassroots clubs to create pathways, share resources, and strengthen the women’s and girls’ game across the county.
Speaking about the milestone, Cerys Dolloway, Director of WCWFC in the Community CIC said: “I’m incredibly proud to be celebrating one year of our community football initiatives. Over the past year, I’ve seen first-hand the impact they’ve had - not only in bringing together people from all walks of life to enjoy the game in a friendly and welcoming environment, but also in supporting people’s wellbeing and sense of belonging. It’s been wonderful to watch friendships form, confidence grow, and our community spirit strengthen through football. Celebrating together at Kynd Folk on Friday night was a special evening, and I’m truly excited to see how our community continues to grow in the months and years ahead!”
The community members also gave their thanks and good wishes:
“It's been so good to rediscover confidence in something I love but haven't found opportunities to do for so long. My fitness has improved and I so enjoyed getting to know people I wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to meet. The relationships are formational and enriching and the football gives me a place to de-stress and have fun.”
“I love the community aspect of kick and connect. Getting to attend sessions then go for a smoothie with new people has definitely been a highlight. Also developing key skills has been good.”
“Having the opportunity to play football without any judgment from others - it's given me the confidence to try it and realise I enjoy it!”
As WCWFC looks ahead, the club remains committed to expanding its community reach, developing new initiatives, and ensuring football is accessible to everyone—whether they want to play, learn, or simply connect with others.
