Match Preview | WCWFC Vs Kidderminster Harriers
City look to atone for last season’s County Cup exit as FA Women’s National League Cup action returns to Sixways.
Kidderminster Harriers
Harriers are managed by Andy Fisher, who led the side to a historic league and cup double last season.
They play their home games at Droitwich Spa Football Club whilst works are underway at the Centre of Sporting Excellence.
Harriers clinched the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division by finishing two points ahead of fellow title contenders Lye Town to reach the FA Women’s National League (FA WNL) for the first time in the club’s history.
They won the FA Worcestershire County Cup by beating Worcester City Women Reserves 6-0 at Claines Lane.
Previous Meeting
Back in March, when the two sides last met, City Women bowed out of the County Cup at the semi-final stage after Kidderminster Harriers came away from Sixways with a 2-1 win thanks to a second-half fightback.
Annie Highway opened the scoring for City with an outrageous free kick a few minutes into the game, but City struggled to create chances and were punished by two second-half goals as Harriers advanced to the final.
Last Time Out
City were beaten 1-0 at Sixways in a close encounter against a dogged and determined Leafield side.
Harriers earned their first win in the FA Women’s National League (FA WNL) by defeating Notts County 2-1 in Droitwich, thanks to goals from Millie Rogers and Olivia Woolston.
