Defeat for City at Sixways despite a resilient display

Sixways turned pink on Sunday afternoon in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness month as both sets of teams, supporters, and volunteers came together to support ten years of Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.

City had the game's first effort just before the quarter of an hour mark after shots by Kaye Haggett and Annie Sime were blocked and then the ball fell to Lowri Walker at the edge of the box who flashed wide.

Five minutes later, Worcester had the ball in the back of the net after a cross by Evie Billingsley was tapped home by Nyah Edwards but she was deemed to be in an offside position.

Just before the half hour mark the returning Charlotte Poole who has missed the last few games through concussion found space inside the area, but her effort flashed past the crossbar.

Minutes later, Notts County took the lead after a swivel and turn in the area was cooly dispatched into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Moments later, a chance for Walker who got up after a Haggett cross was blocked, however Edwards couldn’t get her toe on the ball.

A few minutes later, confusion between Billie Haynes and Jodie Whiteman and the visiting striker had the goal at her mercy, but fortunately for Worcester, she hit her shot wide.

Deep into first half stoppage time, Haggett had an effort from distance but her shot went wide of the post, but Worcester ended up going into the break a goal down.

Moments into the second half the visitors doubled their lead after their winger drove into the box and put the ball on the plate for the attacker to slot home into the bottom corner.

A few minutes later City were back in the contest after Olivia Stubbs beat the offside trap and slotted home with a cool finish.

Moments later, Worcester equalised after Stubbs bundled the ball over the line for her brace.

The visitors retook the lead ten minutes later, after the winger drove into the box and unleashed an effort that nestled into the back of the net.

Five minutes later, it was almost a carbon copy of the third goal by Notts County only this time the ball went over the crossbar.

Just before the 80th minute Worcester found themselves back on level terms after Maja Szymkowiak scored straight from a corner to score her first goal for the club.

Moments later, City came close to taking the lead for the first time in the game as Walker hit the post after a shot from an acute angle.

Just before the 90th minute mark, Notts County scored the winner, after they broke the offside trap and the attacker rounded Whiteman to tap the ball into an empty net.

Next Up it’s Derby Day as we face Kidderminster Harriers in FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands action under the lights at Aggborough on Tuesday, 27th October with a 7:45pm kick-off.

Thankyou for your fantastic support, City fans!!
