City were back in action on Sunday afternoon following a two-week break after the 1-1 draw at Stourbridge, as 5th-placed Sheffield FC visited Sixways on Sunday afternoon.

There were more celebrations before kick-off as defender Shona Baldwin was awarded her own customised shirt to mark her 100th appearance as she achieved a century of games in City’s last outing a fortnight ago.

It took just three minutes for the game's first opportunity, after Kaye Haggett hit one from the edge of the box; however, her effort cannoned off the bar and bounced away.

Moments later, City hit the bar again after a carbon copy of the previous chance, only this time it was Annie Sime who hit one, the ball came off the underside of the bar, and the rebound fell to Maia Clark, whose effort was deflected wide.

The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute, after City failed to clear the ball, and the striker hooked the ball over Jodie Whiteman.

Sime had another effort from distance two minutes after; however, the keeper pulled off a great save to deny City an equaliser.

Just after the first quarter of the game, Keeley Crew drove down the right-hand side, cut inside and had an effort that just went wide of the left post as City were pushing for a leveller.

In-form striker Clark had a couple of efforts within five minutes to try and get City back into the game, but neither effort troubled the Sheffield keeper.

Just after the half-hour mark, Clark was fouled on the left-hand side of the pitch, and Sime struck the free kick, but the ball didn’t have enough dip on it to creep into the top corner.

Ten minutes later, City’s pressure finally paid off following a pinball in the box, the ball broke to Cerys Dolloway, who arrowed a shot past the keeper into the bottom corner.

Moments later, City somehow didn’t take the lead after Poole’s effort was palmed away, and the defender cleared Clark’s goal-bound follow-up effort.

Into the second half, it was the visitors, Sheffield, who looked most likely to score following a triple change at the break, and ten minutes into the half, they would’ve retaken the lead but for some outstanding defending by Jess Bate to clear off the line, after Whiteman saved the initial effort.

Then came the key moments of the game after the visitors scored three times in five minutes to seemingly take the game away from City.

Poole had an effort seven minutes later, after cutting in from the left-hand side, but her effort went wide of the right-hand post.

Unfortunately for City, they couldn’t come back from the three goals in five minutes from Sheffield, although Poole did break the offside trap and forced the keeper into a save in stoppage time.

Next up is Adobe Women’s FA Cup action for City as they travel to fellow FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands outfit Leafield Athletic in the Second Round Proper, which takes place at the Castle Vale Stadium on Sunday, 23rd November, with a 03:00pm kick-off.
