On Sunday, City travel to the Castle Vale Stadium in Birmingham to face fellow independent female club, Leafield Athletic in the Second Round Proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, looking to reach the Third Round Proper for the first time in their history.

Last time out

It was a tale of two halves for at Sixways as City fell to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sheffield FC and left City 7th in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands table.

Leafield, however, welcomed Notts County to the Castle Vale Stadium and left it to the dying embers of the game to earn a 1-0 victory and move within four points of division pace setters Peterborough United.

City’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup journey so far…

Third Round Qualifier - Stanground Cardea 1-3 City

City went in front thanks to a header from Annie Sime, and a first City goal for Laila Rich, and Keeley Crew rounded it all off after the hosts got back into it twenty minutes from time.

First Round Proper - Port Vale 1-2 WCWFC

Nyah Edwards opened the scoring just on the half-hour mark, heading home from a Kaye Haggett corner after the hosts went down to ten players six minutes earlier after the keeper fouled Maia Clark, who was clean through on goal.

Vale pushed City really hard with the numerical disadvantage and got their reward just before the hour mark; however, two minutes from time, City scored the winner after instrumental Haggett put in a great through ball to Jasmin Springer, who slotted it home to secure City’s place in the Second Round Proper and set up a showdown at Leafield.
