On Sunday, City were in Worcestershire County Cup action as they visited Bromsgrove Sporting at the quarter-final stage.

City will hope to repeat their 2024 County Cup triumph after being beaten at Sixways by Kidderminster Harriers at the Semi-Final stage last term.

It was City who had the first effort of the game after Laila Rich wriggled her way past a couple of players and played a cross to Jess Fassnidge, whose effort just went wide of the post.

A few minutes late, Jess Bate went on a run down the left-hand side and was too strong for the defender. She then put in a great ball into the box to Jenn Higgs, whose effort was hooked above the crossbar.

Moments later, Fassnidge had an effort directly from a free-kick, and her effort just went wide. Shortly after, she gave City the lead from inside the box with a strike that nestled into the bottom left of the net.

Cerys Dolloway had an effort from close range in the 23rd minute, but her shot was saved on the line by the goalkeeper.

Just before the half-hour mark, Keeley Crew cut inside from the left and almost bent one into the top right, but her shot just went wide.

In the 33rd minute, Fassnidge broke free into the box, but her effort was saved by the Bromsgrove keeper, and moments later, Crew had a dig from the edge of the box; the keeper held on comfortably as City pushed for the crucial second goal.

Ten minutes later, City got their reward after a corner from Jenn Higgs was dealt with, but only to Crew, who placed one from the edge of the box into the left-hand corner.

A few minutes after the restart, Bromsgrove had their first shot on target after a shot from outside the box, but Jodie Whiteman saved comfortably.

Crew had City’s first attempt of the second half, but she fired her shot over the bar following Higgs pass through.

Bromsgrove had an effort moments later, after City left a player at the back stick, but Whiteman was there to make a save down to her right.

City then had two efforts in quick succession, firstly, Bate had a shot that was straight down the throat of the keeper, and then Rich had one of her own that just flashed wide of the post.

Just after the hour mark, game changer Annie Sime made an immediate impact as she passed the ball into the net to give City their third of the afternoon after great play from Poole and Springer down the left-hand side.

Three minutes later, Sime nearly added her second in a matter of minutes as her shot was tipped onto the crossbar.

Moments later, Sime did get her second after a cushion header nestled into the bottom corner for Worcester’s fourth of the game.

Ten minutes later, the hosts were back into it after a defensive mix-up from City, and the striker made no mistake in putting the ball past Whiteman.

Five minutes from time, Keeley Crew hit one, and it looped into the top corner for her brace and City’s fifth.

Game changer Maia Clark had an effort which was brilliantly tipped around the post by the keeper two minutes from time.

The result saw City book a place in the Semi-Finals of the Worcestershire County Cup, with more details set to be announced in due course.
