FA Women’s National League Cup returns as City hosts Harriers in Group C action at Sixways

It’s the first derby day of the season on Wednesday as Worcester City Women square off against rivals Kidderminster Harriers at Sixways in the FA Women’s National League Cup Group Phase.

Kidderminster Harriers Women play their home games at Droitwich Spa FC and appointed Brandon Bevins as the Head Coach back in May following Andy Fisher’s departure.

In the 2025/2026 season, Harriers finished 9th in their debut FA Women’s National League season, accumulating 21 points from 22 games, registering 7 wins and 15 defeats.

Previous meetings

The two sides were no strangers to each other last season, after playing each other on four different occasions, with City coming out on top in all four fixtures.

Back in September 2025, City came away 2-0 winners in the FA Women’s National League Cup after a dominant display at Sixways. Second-half goals from captain Jessica Fassnidge and Carys Lowley saw City gain the bragging rights.

City claimed the three points in their first league meeting of the season as the two sides met at Sixways in November as the two rivals squared off in the FA Women’s National League for the first time. Sophie Griffiths scored the only goal of the game to secure City the derby day spoils.

Back in February at Droitwich Spa FC, Worcester City Women made it a hat-trick of wins against their local rivals, winning 2-0 away from home, thanks to goals from Maia Clark and Annie Sime.

A month later at Sixways, the two clubs met in the Worcestershire FA County Cup Semi-Final and it was Clark, who loved a goal against Harriers, who gave City the lead 25 minutes in after she isolated the defender, took a touch around her and rifled in a shot. Ten minutes later, Phoebe Hill equalised for the visitors as the shot beat Whiteman at the near post.

Just after the hour mark, Clark was at the double when Connie Matthews glided down the left channel and put in a cross in the danger zone, and Clark was there to put out a foot and stab the ball home.

Ten minutes later, Hill equalised with a header to score a brace of her own, following a shot that Jodie Whiteman tipped onto the bar, but the ball ended up falling onto Hill’s head and placed her header accurately in the bottom right-hand corner.

Evie Billingsley who had the final say in her first game back since her long term injury as she calmly placed the ball into the net in stoppage time, after Shona Baldwin’s cross hit off Nyah Edwards and fell perfectly to Billingsley’s foot to ensure her side made it a 100% win rate against their bitter rivals.

Last time out

City were back on home turf as Barnsley were the first visitors to Sixways this campaign, where they were beaten 5-1. Nyah Edwards opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a cushioned header, but Barnsley took complete control and saw City started off the season with back to back defeats.

I wanted a new experience and challenge. WCWFC have a great environment and ambition for the club and the players themselves.

Favourite achievement within football so far?

Winning the County Cup and league which promoted to team to Tier 3

What are you most excited for ahead of the 26/27 season?

I’m excited to play with the girls and contribute towards a hopefully successful season.
