Match Preview | WCWFC Vs Birmingham City PGA

City return to FA Women’s National League Cup action as the final group phase game takes place.

City are hoping to progress to the next round of the FA Women’s National League Cup as they welcome Birmingham City PGA to Sixways on Sunday.

The Blues currently sit at the bottom of Group F, knowing they will have to come to Sixways and beat City to stand a chance of progressing to the next phase.

Group F – as it stands

1 – Cheltenham Town – 6 points

2 – Worcester City – 3 points

3 – Kidderminster Harriers – 1 point

4 - Birmingham City PGA – 1 point

In the opening fixture of group F, Blues earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw in Droitwich against Kidderminster Harriers, but in their second game, they travelled to Cheltenham Town and fell to a 4-0 defeat.

City started their FA Women’s National League Cup Campaign at Bishops Cleeve against Cheltenham Town but fell to a 2-0 defeat despite a terrific second-half display.

There was redemption for City in their second game of the campaign as they beat local rivals Kidderminster Harriers 2-0 at Sixways, thanks to a Jessica Fassnidge rocket and a Carys Lowley header.

City know if they beat Birmingham City PGA at Sixways on Sunday, they will progress to the next round.

Captain Jessica Fassnidge will make her 100th appearance for the club on Sunday, if she is selected.

Jodie, how have you settled into life at Worcester City Women?

“I have settled into Worcester City Women very well. The girls and the coaching staff have all been very good at making sure you feel part of the group from day one.

There is a great feel around the club and the team as a whole. The environment as a whole is amazing, and there is a great feel of togetherness, and you really feel that we all have each other's backs”.

We’re a month into the new campaign. How do you think it’s going?

“Being a month into the campaign, I feel as though there have been lots of positives to take away from the games so far, as well as things that need developing, but overall, I’m feeling very positive and excited to see where this season takes us as we continue to build as a squad”.
