A superb away performance from City as they leave Nottingham with the three points

On Sunday, City were back in FA Women’s National League action as they travelled up the M42 to face Notts County, hoping that they could get back to winning ways in the league after defeat against Peterborough last time out back in September.

City started the game on the front foot as winger Kaye Haggett got in behind, but her effort hit the side netting.

A minute later, Jodie Whiteman made a strong save down to her right following a powerful shot from County.

Two minutes later, Maia Clark broke free and forced the keeper into a good save with her foot, which fell to Charlotte Poole, who fired over.

In the 20th minute, City took the lead after Maia Clark opened her account for Worcester after she pounced on a mistake at the back, and she made no mistake in hitting the back of the net.

Six minutes later, Clark almost mirrored her first goal by getting in behind; however, her shot this time her shot went over the bar.

In the 35th minute, Worcester found themselves two goals to the good after Poole fired a shot into the bottom right of the net.

Five minutes later, Whiteman made an outstanding save by tipping over a goal-bound shot.

City had two efforts just before the break, first as Haggett forced the keeper into a good save, and Poole just before the break got in behind, but her effort went wide of the post.

Two minutes after the restart, the Magpies hit the bar as they put a little bit of pressure on the City goal.

Worcester had two opportunities in a matter of moments, with Haggett breaking free from the defence, but her shot went wide of the post, then Poole got to the byline and pulled the ball back, but the keeper pushed the ball behind.

Just before the hour mark Clark forced the County keeper into a good save as she tipped it behind for a City corner, and from the resulting Haggett corner Bethan Marriott got her head to the ball, however her effort went wide.

City in the 73rd minute Clark hit a shot off the bar as City were looking for their third of the afternoon.

Five minutes later City got the all important third goal, after superb pressing from Worcester to their defence which left Clark to capitalise who slotted home to score her second of the game.

In the 82nd minute Clark got her hat-trick after her originally shot was saved, however she made no mistake with the rebound to cap off an outstanding display.

WCWFC Under 18s

It had been a fortnight since the last time the U18s played, after a fantastic away win at Coles Lane against Sutton Coldfield, thanks to a brace from Ava, and a goal apiece for Lily and Maya.

Their attention was shifted away from league action as the Open Cup became centre stage, with City traveling to face Lane Head Galaxy.

City found themselves 3-0 down inside 25 minutes; however, a Rosie R goal ten minutes before the break ensured City were still in the tie, which proved to be the case as Worcester pulled it back to 3-2 with just over fifteen minutes to play.

Unfortunately for City, the hosts took control and scored four goals in just under twenty minutes.

Final score: Lane Head Galaxy 7-2 Worcester City U18s

Next up is a return to league action for City, as Sporting Khalsa visit Little Perdiswell on Saturday, 18th October.

WCWFC Reserves

City Reserves didn’t play this week but are back in action next Sunday as they hope to kick on following their 3-1 home win against Hereford Pegasus last week.

City will be in County Cup action, as they host local rivals Droitwich Spa on Sunday, 18th October.

City had a fantastic run in the County Cup last year, going all the way to the final and finishing runners-up after Kidderminster Harriers claimed the trophy at Claines Lane.
