Worcester City Women FC Launches Sister Club Programme to Inspire the Next Generation of Female Footballers

Worcester City Women FC (WCWFC) are proud to announce the launch of the WCWFC Sister Club Programme, designed to strengthen connections with grassroots football clubs and provide young girls with more opportunities to experience the women’s game up close.

The FREE Sister Club Programme – full details of which can be found here – will offer local grassroots clubs access to matchday experiences at Sixways, including the chance for their players to be mascots, form guard of honours, and meet their role models at Autograph Alley after the game. It also creates opportunities for coaches, players, and volunteers from grassroots clubs to engage with WCWFC on and off the pitch through workshops, events, and development sessions.

Cerys Dolloway, Vice-Captain of WCWFC and Community Lead for WCWFC in the Community, expressed her excitement about the programme:

“We know that girls are leaving sport at twice the rate of boys by age 14, and fewer than one-third aspire to reach the top in sport compared to half of boys. Through this programme, we want to change that – by giving young girls a clear pathway, inspiration, and role models to look up to. This is about building confidence, belonging, and a lifelong love for the game.”

Club Captain Jess Fassnidge emphasised what the programme means to the players:

“Having mascots and Sister Club players at Sixways makes such a difference – the noise they bring, the banners, and the support give us a huge boost. But even more special is getting to meet them afterwards in Autograph Alley, signing their shirts and sharing a moment that we hope will inspire them to keep playing and loving football.”

WCWFC Owner Nicole Allison added:

“As an independent club competing in the FA Women’s National League, collaboration with grassroots clubs is vital. We want girls in Worcester and beyond to see that there are opportunities for them in football – whether on the pitch, in coaching, in leadership, or any other area of the game. By working together with local clubs, we can help more girls stay in football and build a future where they can thrive.”

The Sister Club Programme underlines WCWFC’s commitment to supporting the girls’ pathway at every level. By forging these strong connections, the club aims to inspire the next generation of female footballers, provide positive role models, and create a culture where every girl knows she belongs in the game.
