Sheffield FC Women are part of Sheffield FC, ‘The world’s first football club’ and are managed by Graham Abercrombie.
They won the double last season, gaining promotion from the East Midlands Women’s Regional League Premier Division and winning the East Midlands Women’s League Cup back in May, defeating Rotherham United 2-0 in the final.
Last time out
City drew 1-1 at Stourbridge, marking the end of three games in eight days in an end-to-end affair at the War Memorial Ground.
Stourbridge made their first-half pressure count two minutes before the break when they took a deserved lead, but City pegged the Glass Girls back immediately after the restart, after a great through ball by Charlotte Poole found Maia Clark, who pounced and placed the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
It could’ve gone either way throughout the second half, and with five minutes from time, City shot stopper Jodie Whiteman foiled a one-on-one effort with an unbelievable save following a Stour break from a Worcester free kick.
Sheffield, meanwhile, welcomed Boldmere St Michaels to the Home Of Football Stadium on Sunday afternoon and came away with the three points following a 1-0 win.
This season
City currently sits in 7th place in the FA Women’s National League table and has accumulated ten points, which is only 3 points off our entire tally from last season.
Sheffield, on the other hand, went up to 5th place in the table following their home win against Boldmere.
