It’s the final home game of the 2025/2026 season as City welcome the Shoe Army to Sixways

The curtain comes down on another historic home campaign for City on Sunday, which has seen Worcester win 8 out of their 14 games in all competitions this season and have picked up an impressive 18 points out of a possible 30 in their FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands season, with one home game remaining.
City can also boast about the 24 goals they have scored in all competitions at Sixways this season, and going into Sunday’s clash, can also be pleased with the 6 clean sheets in those 8 home victories.
Last time out
City travelled to the Home of Football Stadium to face a well-organised Sheffield side. City were excellent throughout in an almost complete performance in Yorkshire and came away 2-1 winners to gain an impressive three points.
Worcester took the lead just before the 25th minute mark, after the hosts failed to clear a Connie Matthews corner, and Annie Sime swung her foot at it and rifled an unstoppable shot into the back of the Sheffield net to send the away fans into ecstasy. Sheffield got back into the game against the run of play on the stroke of half-time as the ball bobbled in the area.
On the hour mark, striker Maia Clark went on one of her mazey runs and was shoulder barged right on the edge of the area. The skipper, Jess Fassnidge, took responsibility and squeezed the ball past the goalkeeper to ensure City regained their lead. City thought they scored a third, after Carys Lowley found herself at the back stick to prod the ball home, after a delicious whipped-in cross by Matthews from the right-hand edge of the box, however the officials deemed the defender scored with her hand, and the goal was ruled out.
Meanwhile, Northampton Town hosted Sutton Coldfield Town on Easter Sunday, as the match was ordered to be replayed following the abandoned fixture earlier in the season.
The game ended in a 1-0 defeat for Northampton, as the Royals scored in the 75 minute to take the three points back to the Midlands.

Cerys Dolloway - A Stalwart at the back
We caught up with our centre back, Cerys Dolloway, immediately after the final whistle to get her thoughts on a fantastic away win and how the team can push on ahead of the final three games of the season.
She said: “Obviously, a tough game in the wind and the rain and on a grass pitch that we’re not used to, but the girls put an absolute shift in and we executed the game plan perfectly. We played some really nice football, could’ve got away with a few more goals, but really pleased with the performance.
We can take a massive amount of positives from this game, currently sitting fifth, but Sheffield are below us with a few games in hand; this win was really important. We’re showing, actually, we could probably push to finish fifth and the pressure’s on Sheffield now, so exciting times ahead”

Previous meeting
It was a tough match for City in the reverse fixture at the O’Riordan Bond Stadium back in January in FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands action, as Worcester went into the break a goal down.
City fought back with a Maia Clark double, with the match winner coming in the 9th minute of stoppage time, after goalkeeper Jodie Whiteman went route one and pinged a fantastic ball straight down the middle of the pitch, where Clark had ice in her veins and made no mistake in slotting the ball home to give Worcester a precious away win.

This season
City climbed up to 5th and leapfrogged Sheffield in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands table following their superb win at the Home of Football Stadium a fortnight ago, and sit on an incredible 32 points after 20 games.
Northampton Town sit two places below in 7th place and have chalked up 21 points after 20 games, which should be enough to see them remain in the division next season.

Worcestershire FA Sunday Women’s Cup Final
Worcestershire FA Sunday Women’s Cup Final against West Midlands Regional League Premier Division side Redditch Borough on Sunday, 19th April, at the Worcestershire FA (Claines Lane) with a scheduled kick-off of 13:30pm.
