Lindsey has been an ever-present at Worcester City Women since she arrived at the club five years ago. In that time, Lindsey has played for the first team in tiers four and five, and has also played for our Reserves in tier six.

Lindsay also played an integral part in the club’s double-winning 2023/2024 season, as City won the Worcestershire FA County Cup and secured the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division title, earning promotion to the Women’s National League for the first time in their history.

This summer, Lindsey will make that transition from player to player mentor, where she will continue to develop young players, be an incredible role model and support the club overall as Worcester City Women prepare for the next exciting chapter in the club’s history.

You have been at WCWFC for five years now. What does the club mean to you?

WCWFC means a huge amount to me. Having been here for five years, it’s become much more than just a club—it’s a big part of who I am. Growing up in this city. There's a sense of pride in wearing the badge. And over the years, not just this amazing club but football in general has helped shape me is something I never take for granted.

The club has given me so many great memories, friendships, and opportunities, and the joy of playing football for the city I call home is something really special. Stepping onto the field representing Worcester as a club, I feel a sense of pride and responsibility to give my best for the club, the volunteers who have become part of the Worcester family and the people who support us come sun, wind, rain, and turn up to support us.

What has been your standout memory since joining WCWFC?

As a squad, hard work paying off and winning the league to get promoted into the National League. When I started playing football, I never thought it was possible. Growing up, there weren’t the girls’ youth teams that there are today. So, to join my first team at the age of around 20. My aim was merely to play, enjoy playing and of course, winning makes the playing much easier.

On a personal level, I am incredibly proud to have been awarded Ambassador status for the club. It is a tremendous honour and a moment of great personal pride. Being presented with the award by Nicole made the occasion even more special, creating a memory that I will cherish and be proud of for years to come.

How much do you think the club has grown across those five years?

When I first joined, before Nicole took over, we trained in Kidderminster on a smaller astroturf pitch that wasn't in the best condition. Five years later, the club now trains at the University of Worcester with fantastic facilities. While playing for the first team, I was lucky enough to step onto the field at Sixways. Walking out into that stadium is a feeling I can't really describe.

With the Reserves, we have matchdays at the University of Worcester, which brings us closer to the supporters and helps create a great atmosphere. The club has grown not only in its drive to continually improve but also through the number of people who come to watch and the interaction between the fans and players.

Initiatives such as Kick and Connect and Kick & Mix have also helped the local community get involved and feel part of the club. Most importantly, I believe the club will continue to grow and go from strength to strength in the years ahead.

I hear you play Kick & Mix with your brothers, and your Dad is a regular supporter at matches. What does that mean to you to have your family in and around the football club?

Haha, Kick & Mix, what a Friday night that is! It's a great way to finish off the working week. My dad has always been a huge support and has travelled with me to the majority of my footballing career, so it means a lot having him there. He not only encourage myself but the whole squad.

It's been so much fun having my brothers involved in Kick & Mix, too. It takes me back to when we were kids, kicking a football around in the street or at the local park. There's usually a lot of banter, plenty of laughs, and a bit of competition as well! Having my family around the club makes it even more enjoyable and helps keep me grounded. They're a big part of my journey, and it's special being able to share those moments with them.

What are your initial thoughts since securing your new role as Player Mentor, and how will you transition from playing staff to club staff?

Securing this new role as Player Mentor is a new venture for me, and if I'm honest, there are a few nerves, but far more excitement. I've been fortunate enough to play throughout the leagues and experience first-hand what it takes to progress, so I'm looking forward to sharing that knowledge with the next generation of players.

Moving from the playing staff into a club staff role will be a different challenge, but it's one I'm ready to embrace. Football always brings highs and challenges, and that's what makes the game so special. My aim is to bring positivity, resilience, and a never-give-up attitude to the role. If I can help even one player improve their ability, develop the right attitude, or realise what they're truly capable of achieving, then I'll know I'm making a difference.

I'm also delighted to be working alongside Katie Heath. Having had the pleasure of playing with her and being managed by her, I know the qualities she brings both on and off the pitch. I believe we'll make a strong team and create a supportive environment for the young players coming through, helping them grow both as footballers and as people.

What would you say to somebody reading this who is thinking about joining the club?

My biggest piece of advice is to always enjoy your football. I believe that when you enjoy what you're doing, you perform at your best. The club values commitment, resilience, and a willingness to learn and develop. Someone once told me that the extra 1% matters, both on and off the pitch, and that's something I strongly believe in.

Most importantly, give your 100% of that day. Whether you're on the pitch, on the bench, playing, coaching, or volunteering, your attitude and effort can inspire those around you. If you're willing to work hard, support your teammates, and be part of a positive and ambitious environment, then this is a fantastic club to be involved with.

Lastly, have you got a message for our fantastic supporters?

Where would any club be without its supporters? You truly are that extra player on the pitch. Through every match, every challenge, every victory and disappointment, your voices have always been there, pushing us on.

Having had the privilege of playing for this club for so many years, I can honestly say your support has never gone unnoticed. Whether it's a cold, wet afternoon or a big occasion under the lights, you've continued to show up, cheer us on, and believe in us.

Football isn't always easy as a supporter. There are highs that make it all worthwhile and lows that test your patience and loyalty. But through it all, you've stood by us, and for that I am incredibly grateful.

I've been lucky enough to experience so many special moments wearing this shirt, and many of those memories wouldn't be the same without hearing your encouragement from the sidelines. The connection between this team and its supporters is something truly special.

I may be slightly biased, but I genuinely believe the Worcester City Women supporters are among the very best around. The passion, kindness and unwavering support you've shown over the years have meant more to me than you'll ever know.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for every cheer, every message, every conversation, and every moment of support. It has been an honour to play in front of you.

WCWFC U21’s manager Katie Heath had this to say on Lindsey’s exciting new chapter at the club.

"Lindsey has been a valued member of Worcester City Women throughout her time at the club. She played an important role in our First Team squad's successful promotion season to the National League and has most recently continued to contribute with the Reserves. As a club ambassador, Lindsey embodies the values and standards we strive for both on and off the pitch.

Her experience, professionalism, and leadership qualities will be a huge asset to this young group. She has a fantastic ability to support and develop players around her, and I have no doubt she will be a great mentor to the squad while also providing valuable support to the coaching staff. Lindsey is someone who naturally drives standards and helps create the positive environment needed for players to thrive."
