Football fun in the sun! Worcester’s and Le Vesinet’s girls’ football teams celebrated their twinning links at a 2-day football festival hosted by Worcester City Women FC Camps at Claines Lane on 16th and 17th July.
July 17th, 2022
Over 100 girls and boys took part in the event, including 13 of Le Vesinet Sport Club International (VSCI) girls, who have enjoyed 5 football-fuelled days in Worcester, including a trip to Rotherham to see France v Belgium in the UEFA Women’s European Championships.
VSCI based in Worcester’s Twin Town
Le Vesinet, a suburb in the south-western outskirts of Paris, were invited over by Worcester City Women FC to celebrate girls’ football during a historic and record-breaking month for the women’s game in England, where the UEFA Women’s Euros are currently being held.
‘It’s been fantastic to see so many girls and boys with smiles on their faces, making new friends and enjoying their football this weekend and we’re particularly proud to have welcomed VSCI to Worcester to start what will be a wonderful international relationship between our two clubs’, Worcester City Women’s Executive Director, Nicole Allison, said.
‘The UEFA Women’s Euros have already been a huge success in England and are inspiring a whole new generation of footballers. Despite there being no Euros games hosted in the Midlands, as a club we are committed to inspiring local girls and boys to play the game and ensure there is a legacy post-Euros. Our players and coaches, who led the event, are brilliant role models and they’ve loved coaching and inspiring the players at the camp’.
Thank you to everyone for being involved in this weekend’s camp and we look forward to seeing you at the next one!
