Worcester City Women FC v Sutton Coldfield Town Women - Game Off

Dec 18,2021

Due to the current situation of Omicron and a number of positive cases in our squad, we have decided to not play the game v Sutton Coldfield scheduled for 19th December.

Those that have tested positive have been with the rest of the squad at training earlier this week and some others are showing symptoms and awaiting test results.

We are not making this decision as a club to call the game off lightly. We are putting the physical and mental welfare of the players and staff (of both clubs) as the absolute number one priority.

Sadly, some of those players that have already tested positive and any that get a positive result from Thursday 16th December, will now have to self-isolate for Christmas.

We are not willing to risk this being the situation for anyone else to fulfil a fixture.

The FA yesterday made the decision that there was ‘no material impact on the playing of Women’s Football Pyramid (Tiers 3-6) football at this time’. This means that the FA rule of having a minimum of 7 players constitutes a team for the purpose of fulfilling a fixture still stands for our league. At this time we don’t know if we have 7 players available, but what we do know is that we are not willing to risk spreading the virus to others and will accept any repercussions that brings.

This isn’t how we wanted to end 2021. We are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support in this last year and can’t wait to see you again in January.
