Worcester City Women FC  5 – 2 Coundon Court FC

Nov 28, 2021

Another emphatic performance by Worcester City Women saw them put 5 past Coundon Court with a Rew hat-trick and goals from Wallis and D’oyen Fitchett to take us up to 5th in the West Midlands Regional League.

City went into this game full of confidence with two wins back-to-back in the previous weeks and it was clear to see as straight from kick off Worcester looked in control with most of the play taking place in the attacking half.

In the 18th minute D’oyen Fitchett had the first major chance of the game as she rounded the keeper but unfortunately could only hit the post. Not long after the deadlock was broken as Wallis, with fantastically quick feet, managed to create some space in the box and drilled her shot into the bottom corner to open the scoring.

City went into half time with a 1-0 lead knowing in the second half they needed to be more clinical in front of goal. The half time team talk clearly worked as within 2 minutes of the second half beginning Rew bagged 2 goals for herself which gave City a thoroughly deserved 3-0 lead.

The action didn’t stop there as in the 50th minute Coundon managed to win a penalty which they converted very confidently However, for Coundon this comeback was short lived as Rew in the 60th minute managed to grab her hat-trick and put any chance of a Coundon comeback to bed.

There were plenty of chances in the latter stages of the game and in the 67th minute City capitalised on their sustained pressure as Rew slipped in D’oyen Fitchett who finished coolly into the bottom corner to make it 5-1 to City.

As the game was dying out Coundon managed to get their 2nd goal of the game in the 82nd minute with a well worked goal.

This victory means City have now got 3 wins back-to-back and will hope to continue their momentum next week where they face Redditch United away in another important league fixture.

Thank you to all our fans who braved the cold yesterday to support the team!

Next week we take a trip the the The Trico Stadium to play Reddich and then City are back at Claines Lane on December 12th vs Coventry Sphinx for a 2.30pm kick off. Click here to buy tickets.
