Our latest addition to the squad, Annie Sime, has proven to be an import acquisition this season, impressing off the bench and in the starting eleven. Originally from Sheffield, Annie has spent the last six years playing at the prestigious West Bromwich Albion Academy, where she fine-tuned her skills as a footballer. Now wanting to further her education, Annie has begun her first year studying at Worcester University and was eager to accept the opportunity to continue her playing career with WCWFC. When asked about her decision to sign with the club, she had this to say:
“I’m very excited to join Worcester City Football Club. There is a great energy around the players and coaching staff.”
Making a total of three appearances so far, Sime has slotted into the center midfield role expertly, having the look of a seasoned midfielder at only 18 years of age. Her awareness on the pitch and calm, confident approach to play means she will be a valuable asset for Tally throughout the season. Her commitment to the game and her love of competition is evident in this following response during an interview with media man Todd Sasin.
“I always give 100% effort in the games. I have enjoyed playing for Worcester so far, and the games have been competitive! Hopefully, I can create and score some goals too!”
For those fortunate enough to watch her play the past three weekends, it's evident that her ambitions will surely come to fruition. In the Second Round Qualifying match against Walsall Wood, Tally put Annie in the starting eleven, and she did not disappoint. Her ability on the ball was obvious, but her dedication to her teammates was what made a great first impression. It was a hard-fought battle in the midfield, and she went into challenges unafraid and often came out on top—a promising start for a talented player.
Worcester City Women return to Sixways on 22nd October to face Anstey Nomads in the FA Cup Final Qualifying Round, and Annie and the rest of the team would love to see you there!
