Worcester FA County Cup (1).png

Kingfisher FC 0 – 2 Worcester City Women

Jan 16th, 2022

Two penalties from Emma Collins either side of the break ensured City progressed into the semi-finals of the County Cup.

Worcester started off brightly as Karli Smith nearly capitalised from the keeper’s error but  her shot went wide. A few moments later, Mulcock showed a burst of pace to open up a sight of goal, but she also just missed the target.

City continued to control the game, and after sustained pressure, City finally got what they deserved when Collins was brought down by the keeper for a clear penalty in the 39th minute. Despite the keeper guessing the right way, Collins kept her cool from the spot and dispatched it into the bottom right corner.

City nearly doubled their lead just before half time when D’oyen Fitchett’s effort struck the post after being put through for a 1v1.

The second half continued like it ended in the first half, with Worcester the dominant team as this time Mulcock clipped a ball in for Collins, only for the keeper to reach it first.

With Worcester looking for that crucial second goal, Farr did well when she dribbled into the box past several defenders, before she was clearly fouled to give City their second penalty right before the hour mark.

Collins doubled the advantage from the spot after going the opposite way this time, with the keeper following, to give City the goal they were searching for.

With City in cruise control of the tie, Farr stepped up to produce several chances for a third goal. She slipped in Mulcock whose effort was well saved by the keeper, and then following on she had a shot herself that was straight at goal.

A dominant display in yellow and blue sees City progress into the semi-finals of the Worcestershire County Cup.

Next week we face off against Lye Town in the League Cup away. Details for spectators will be announced in due course.
