Crusaders Ladies FC 5 – 1 Worcester City Women
A difficult afternoon for City in blustery conditions saw us defeated by a strong Crusaders team.
The game started well for City when a lovely through ball by Shona Baldwin on the 5th minute released Edwards who chipped the keeper to give City the opening goal of the game.
City continued to create chances but failed to take them and it allowed Crusaders to get an equaliser in the 30 th minute, when a strong shot beat Goalkeeper Burnham, who was in to replace Whitbury due to illness. Only a couple minutes later a cross from Crusaders ended up in our own net is making it 2-1 to Crusaders as we headed into half time.
City, missing key players throughout the team, struggled to get going in the second half and Crusaders got their third goal of the game making a comeback a lot more difficult.
Crusaders managed to get their 4th & 5th goals within the space of 5 minutes leaving City 4 goals adrift with 20 minutes left to play.
City fought hard into the end with Beth Taylor looking like a threat up front, however the multiple chances which they managed to create were deemed offside which meant the game ended with Crusaders winning 5-1.
Despite the defeat, there were plenty of learning opportunities for City and great to see new signing Bex Leach make her debut when she came on as a second half substitute. Thanks to all the travelling fans again yesterday, we appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you next week at our away game vs Sutton Coldfield.
