FIRST TEAM HEAD COACH
Born in Malvern, Jodie has been a well known figure in the Worcestershire Women's football scene for the past 12 years starting her playing and coaching career at Welland Junior FC. Jodie is a UEFA B coach who for the past 2 seasons been the reserve coach at Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as coaching at the Schools FA Girls U16 National Squad for 3 seasons. Jodie also works at the Worcestershire FA as Football Development Officer overseeing Girls & Women's Football.
A Huge Toffees supporter who used to surf during her teenage years and has a big love for VW camper vans!
FIRST TEAM ASSISTANT COACH
Born and bred in Worcester, Jess Fassnidge played locally until being offered a scholarship in the US and started her collegiate career at Eastern Florida State Community College where she studied and played soccer for 2 years. During her time at Eastern Florida State she captained the team in her Sophomore season and earned NJCAA all-tournament honours in both seasons. She then transferred to Flagler college where she finished her final 2 years of college soccer and graduated with a Business Administration degree with a minor in marketing. After graduating she stayed in St Augustine Florida to become Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach and now back on home soil, she is developing her coaching career at Worcester City Women, whilst also playing for the club and studying for an MSc in Strength and Conditioning.
DEVELOPMENT TEAM HEAD COACH
Matt is a UEFA B Licence coach, as of October 2019 and has been involved solely in female football for the past six seasons, first at Wyre Forest Phoenix Football Club, from March 2015 to April 2020, as a Coach, Head of Development and later Chairman, and since at Worcester City Football Club, as Manager of the County Team and Coach of the under-17 Team. Matt's expertise and experience in the women's game will allow us to build a fantastic pathway through to the First Team.
Our dedicated Goalkeeper Coach, Dr Julia West, is also Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at theUniversity of Worcester. Julia's qualifications and experience in coaching are second to none, with an MSc in Sports Coaching, UEFA B Coach and Level 2 GK Coach to name a few. She played football for a number of years in the Women's premiership as goalkeeper for different clubs and earned her England University caps against America, Scotland and Wales. Julia will provide our Goalkeepers from U18, Development and First Team with invaluable dedicated training and will also support our coaches across the club. She is also writing a book on Goalkeeping in association with Women in Football!
After 23 years as a player, Sammy has joined the coaching team to work closely with Head Coach, Jess Fassnidge. An FA Level 2 Coach, Level 3 Personal Trainer and with a long and successful career playing for many teams including a previous Worcester City team and West Bromwich Albion, Sammy brings a wealth of experience to the club. With a passion for helping improve mental health through fitness, Sammy is currently studying for a Level 4 in Strength and Conditioning and runs a successful PT business; Fit for Purpose. She specialises in coaching adults, teens and children to reach their personal health and fitness goals with a focus on self-esteem and self-confidence.
Wendy Martin has experience on and off the pitch. Wendy started her football career at Chelsea F.C. Women. She played there for several seasons before she decided to swap her kit bag for a medical bag and became a sports physiotherapist at Arsenal W.F.C. After taking a few years out of the beautiful game, Wendy then joined Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women, where she remained for ten years.
Within 6 months of retiring from football in 2019, Wendy was invited to join the England national beach soccer team where she is now representing her country in tournaments all over the world. Wendy was also selected
to represent GB at the beach olympics in Doha in 2019 which saw England gain a silver medal.
