Bromsgrove Sporting 0 – 3 Worcester City Women Development Team

April 3rd, 2022

Worcester City Women Development Team secured an away win at Bromsgrove Sporting on Sunday in a dominant display.

City started the game strongly and in the 9th minute went 1 nil up after a ball was played across the goal for Izzy Gibbons to tap into the net giving City a deserved lead.

As the half grew on, City continued to control the game. After a series of corners, City came close to doubling their lead in the 33rd minute, however the shot was just wide of the target. As the half came to an end Bromsgrove tried to push and grab an equalizer, however, City’s defence stood strong and the away side went into the break with a well deserved lead.

As the second half began City carried on the front foot with a few set pieces going slightly wide of the Bromsgrove goal. However, in the 65th minute Alex Crake doubled City’s lead as she fired the ball home into the top corner, reacting well to a blocked shot from Gibbons, giving City a 2 goal advantage.

City continued to press and Leah Ritson smashed the crossbar with a great effort but then 12 minutes from time, Ritson got herself on the scoresheet, and City’s third, after a smart cross from Liv Taylor to seal the 3 points for City.

City nearly made it 4-0 with the last chance of the game with Liv Taylor firing the ball over the bar after picking the ball up in a dangerous area.

The win means City just need one more win in their final game of the season away to Meadow Park to take the title.

Well done to everyone in the Development Team!
